Something’s Fishy

"Something's Fishy" is a song that began with a musical idea and no particular message in mind. But it quickly morphed into a song that's partly about lying politicians and also partly about the threat of climate change. (Then there's the part about evacuation which, living in metro New York, is something that occasionally comes to mind.)

Lyrics

Song and lyrics by Richard Lehmann (ASCAP)

Something’s fishy
Secrets passing by
What’s the story
Tell me all their lies
Is it up or is it down
Only time will tell
Falling for a stranger
You end up down a well

Rainy Monday
Weekend where’d you go
Damaged nerves
I hurt ‘em at the show
Slipping, sliding all around town
Looking for my friend
She forgot my name and number
Could this be the end?

Chorus:
Tell me mister what you looking for, yeah
I got some place I got to be
Heading for evacuation, yeah
Something’s coming can’t you see
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Here it comes

Platypuses
Duck bills in a row
Seeking shelter
Which way should they go
Empty wishes take you to the end
Will you receive or rather will you send

Chorus:
Tell me mister what you looking for, yeah
I got some place I got to be, now
Heading for evacuation, yeah
Something’s coming can’t you see, now
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh year
Here it comes

Break:

Repeat Chorus
